Whether you've got a pup that is working on learning the basics or an older dog that's a seasoned pro, our dog training services at Cosmo's Corner can have many great benefits! Not only will they become a better listener, but even the simplest tools can help a dog succeed and feel confident in varying situations. A gentle, science based, baby steps approach--no harsh corrections, shock, prong, or pinch collars. And you’ll be amazed at how your bond with your furry family member strengthens when you speak each other’s language.
Cosmo's Academy
Our brand-new training courses will provide you and your pup with everything needed for a solid foundation in obedience and manners. After an initial assessment, our in-house trainer will speak with you about your dog’s training plan. Training goals will be set based on the needs of each dog and parent. Training sessions will include report cards, homework assignments, and parent/teacher/pup conferences. Commitment and consistency are key with obedience training; each lesson builds upon the previous one.
Jr. Cadet Level
At this level we focus on (including but not limited to these skills):
Accepting a friendly stranger politely
Sitting calmly for petting
Right/left turns and stops on a loose leash
Walking calmly through groups of people and dogs
Sit or lie down on command and stay while the handler walks away
Remaining calm and non-reactive when passing within 10 feet of another dog and handler
Staying composed when facing distractions
Addressing individual goals as needed
Dogs that master all these exercises will graduate to 2nd Class Cadet status.
2nd Class Cadet Level
*Requirements: Pass Jr. Cadet Level
At this level we focus on (including but not limited to these skills):
Reinforcing loose-leash walking with variable speed and automatic sits when the handler stops
Using body and hand cues for leash walking, with less reliance on verbal commands
Introducing basic off-leash work
Building confidence through agility work (up to 3 feet high, 6–12-inch variations)
Addressing individual goals as needed
Dogs that master all these exercises will graduate to Sr. Cadet status.
Senior Cadet Level
*Requirements: Pass Jr. Cadet Level, pass 2nd Class Cadet Level
At this level we focus on (including but not limited to these skills):
Introducing close-contact off-leash training
Building confidence with higher-elevation agility work
Introducing the wall obstacle
Advancing off-leash skills, including heel, down in motion, recall from 20+ yards, focus with distractions, retrieval, and “out”
Addressing individual goals as needed
